Recipient of 2011 Societas Award for Responsible Corporate Conduct Announced at Ethics Breakfast

New Award Program to Highlight Ethical Business Practices

Center Valley, PA - September 12, 2011 - The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace announced Lafayette Ambassador Bank as the winner of the first annual Societas Award for Responsible Corporate Conduct on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at DeSales University in Center Valley.

Lafayette Ambassador Bank goes beyond just providing quality banking and financial services; they also support many local organizations through contributions and sponsorships, and participate in programs such as the United Way, State Theatre, Valley Youth House, YMCA and Community Action Committee.

Kevin Flemming, chairman of the award committee, explained that the award recognizes measurable organizational values that should be present in all businesses. “Lafayette Ambassador, as well as the 3 runners-up, have clearly demonstrated that their companies meet the requirements for strong ethical business practices. We are so pleased that we could recognize such a great corporate citizen in the first year of this competitive program.

Lafayette Ambassador Bank participates in various programs through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development, including the Educational Improvement Tax Credits (EITC), contributing to ProJect Easton, Burn Prevention Foundation, Weller Health Center and Communities in Schools.

To be considered for the award, companies had to submit a detailed application package that addresses recognized elements of ethical business practices such as formal codes of conduct, compliance with both the letter and spirit of the law, accountability at all levels of the organization, and good corporate citizenship.

The Societas Award is designed to show how real companies incorporate ethical standards and best practices throughout their business model. This annual award, sponsored by the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace, recognizes and celebrates responsible corporate conduct based on objective criteria and measures as judged by an independent panel of experts. The award is presented each September at the Forum’s ethics breakfast meeting.
